How to Use

How to Use the Hairline Mapping Tool

Our mapping stencil provides a starting guide for hairline design. Review the fit, placement, and outline for each client before starting your work.

Fit varies by client. The three sizes are designed to accommodate most clients, but head sizes and shapes vary. Some clients may not have a suitable fit in any of the three sizes.

  1. Choose your size. Pick Half Inch (Natural), Three-Quarter Inch (Balanced), or One Inch (Mature) based on your client's age, head shape, and desired look. See the Size Guide on the product page if you're unsure.
  2. Position the stencil. Place it on the client's forehead, aligning the center mark with the middle of the face. Check the fit and symmetry from the front and both sides before marking. If none of the sizes fits appropriately, use another mapping method.
  3. Mark the guide lines. Trace along the designated guide lines with a skin-safe marker.
  4. Remove the stencil. Lift it away to reveal the outline. Review it with your client before SMP work, hair fibers, or hair unit fitting.

Tips for Best Results

  • Always confirm placement with your client in a mirror before marking.
  • Consider the client's age and natural hairline pattern — a mature client usually suits a slightly higher, more conservative placement.
  • Each pack includes 30 pieces, so you always have a fresh stencil ready.
